Admission                            

 Application Form for admission to the college along with the Prospectus are available from “The Administrative Office, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, H-22, Anna Nagar, Chennai – 600 102, India” on the payment of Rs.400/- (not refundable) from 1st March 2008.

          Forms can be obtained by sending a Bank draft / Pay order in the favour of “Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering”, drawn on any bank in Chennai. Applicant should write his name and date of birth, on the left-hand side of the bank draft / pay order. Photocopy of the Application form will not be accepted. Complete Application form should reach the College office by 1st August 2008.

Age Limit: Applicant should not have completed the age of 21 years as on 1st July, 2008.

Educational Qualification: Applicant must have passed the final examination of +2 Higher Secondary course in the academic stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry / Biology / Bio technology/ Computer Science as subjects of study) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu Government or an examination of any other authority accepted by Anna University.

Grades / Marks: When grades have been awarded in place of marks, only the minimum marks assigned to the grades in the optional subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc) will be considered. For Diploma in respect of Sandwich Diploma Courses, marks secured in the last two semesters shall be considered. If the industrial training intervenes in any of the last two semesters, the marks of previous semester in which there was no industrial training shall be considered.

Number of Appearances:  Candidates belonging to communities other than SC / ST should have passed the qualifying examinations in not more than two appearances.

Certificate of Social Status: BC / MBC / DNT / SC / ST candidates are advised to obtain certificate of Social Status in the prescribed form (which is a duly numbered and printed one) available with the Revenue Authorities concerned, if no certificate is presented, then they will be treated as OC candidates.

Recognition of the qualifying examination: If the qualifying examination is from other State, then the candidates concerned are required to apply to the Anna University with the fees and documentary evidence of recognition of their qualifying examination.

Joint declaration: This document signed jointly by the Applicant (Candidate) and by his / her parent / guardian at the time of admission, is an affirmation and assurance that the student will abide by the rules and regulations of the college prevailing at the time of admission and formulated subsequently.

          It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to furnish all the required certificates and documents along with the Application form to establish eligibility for admission. No claim on any ground in this matter shall be entertained later.

Selection of Candidates: Eligibility for admission to the management seat will be decided by the College Selection Committee on the basis of evaluation systems decided by the college and in consistence with the policies of the Tamil Nadu State Government, AICTE and Anna University.

          A list of students selected will be displayed on the notice board at the Registered Office and at the College. It will be also available on the College website.

          All selections for admission will be provisional and conditional till they are confirmed by the authorities in writing.

Medical Certificate: All applicants selected to join the College are required to be cleared by a medical examination arranged by the College.

Identity Card: Admission of an applicant will not be complete unless he / she has Identity Card issued by the College. It should be collected from the office, within fifteen days from the date of admission.

          Every student shall always carry on his / her person Identity Card issued by the College while on campus and produce or surrender it as and when required by member of the teaching staff / administrative staff / library staff.

Payment Procedure
  •   Fees are to be paid to the Office by Bank Draft / Pay order in favour of “Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering”, drawn on any bank in Chennai. Students should write their name and admission number on the back left hand side of the Draft / Pay order.

  • All Fees are payable in advance, on or before the date fixed by the administration. If the last date for the payment of fees is a holiday, it shall be paid on the next working day.

  • Any advance paid shall be only adjusted towards the tuition fee on confirmation of admission and cannot be repaid under any circumstances.

  • In case of failure to pay fee by the prescribed date, an additional amount of Rs.10/- per day will be charged, provided the dues are cleared within 10 days. After this, the name of the student may be removed from the rolls. For readmission, an additional payment is to be made as fixed by the College. The readmitted student will have to secure the required attendance.

  • Part-payment of the fees is not allowed except wherever specified in the rules.

  • Tuition fees and admission fee once paid to and accepted by the college are not refundable. Only Caution deposit and Library deposit shall be refunded.

  • There is no provision for refunding hostel fees. Only the refundable deposits shall be repaid.

  • Caution deposits will be refunded only after final semester examination results are announced.





 

Scholarships

GRES FUND Need-cum Merit Scholarships

          GRES offers scholarships, which will cover full / part of tuition fees, hostel fees, mess fees and other charges for the four years of study in the College. Every year, up to ten students admitted to the first year, will be selected, if they fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

·        The scholarships are granted to students who have excellent academic background and to students from economically weaker families irrespective of their gender, language, religion, caste and creed.

·        In case a student who is granted the scholarship becomes eligible for any other scholarship or financial assistance at any time duration his / her study in this College, the GRES scholarship will be reduced by an equal amount.

 

Here are our students who are brilliant, dedicated with ambition to build their careers. They need help and financial support to achieve their dreams. The Management of the College is conscious of this noble cause and has taken initiative by giving scholarship to 10 students every year.

          Under the scholarship scheme, management gave a full scholarship including boarding & lodging in 2002 for less privileged, physically handicapped girl who passed out in 2006. She is now well settled in rewarding career.

          Last year too, a full scholarship including boarding & lodging was granted for a girl student who is financially poor.
