Admission
Application
Form for admission to the college along with the Prospectus are available
from “The Administrative Office, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, H-22,
Anna Nagar, Chennai – 600 102, India”
on the payment of Rs.400/- (not refundable) from 1st March 2008.
Forms can be obtained by sending a Bank draft /
Pay order in the favour of “Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering”, drawn on
any bank in Chennai. Applicant should write his name and date of birth, on
the left-hand side of the bank draft / pay order. Photocopy of the
Application form will not be accepted. Complete Application form should
reach the College office by 1st August 2008.
Age Limit: Applicant should
not have completed the age of 21 years as on 1st
July, 2008.
Educational Qualification: Applicant must have
passed the final examination of +2 Higher Secondary course in the academic
stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry / Biology / Bio technology/ Computer
Science as subjects of study) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education,
Tamil Nadu Government or an examination of any other authority accepted by
Anna University.
Grades / Marks: When grades
have been awarded in place of marks, only the minimum marks assigned to the
grades in the optional subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc) will
be considered. For Diploma in respect of Sandwich Diploma Courses, marks
secured in the last two semesters shall be considered. If the industrial
training intervenes in any of the last two semesters, the marks of previous
semester in which there was no industrial training shall be considered.
Number of Appearances:
Candidates belonging to
communities other than SC / ST should have passed the qualifying
examinations in not more than two appearances.
Certificate of Social Status:
BC / MBC / DNT / SC / ST candidates are advised to obtain certificate of
Social Status in the prescribed form (which is a duly numbered and printed
one) available with the Revenue Authorities concerned, if no certificate is
presented, then they will be treated as OC candidates.
Recognition of the qualifying examination:
If the qualifying examination is from other State, then the candidates
concerned are required to apply to the Anna
University
with the fees and documentary evidence of recognition of their qualifying
examination.
Joint
declaration: This document signed jointly by the Applicant
(Candidate) and by his / her parent / guardian at the time of admission, is
an affirmation and assurance that the student will abide by the rules and
regulations of the college prevailing at the time of admission and
formulated subsequently.
It is the sole responsibility of the
applicant to furnish all the required certificates and documents along with
the Application form to establish eligibility for admission. No claim on any
ground in this matter shall be entertained later.
Selection of Candidates:
Eligibility for admission to the management seat will be decided by the
College Selection Committee on the basis of evaluation systems decided by
the college and in consistence with the policies of the Tamil Nadu State
Government, AICTE and Anna
University.
A list of students selected will be
displayed on the notice board at the Registered Office and at the College.
It will be also available on the College website.
All selections for admission will be
provisional and conditional till they are confirmed by the authorities in
writing.
Medical Certificate: All
applicants selected to join the College are required to be cleared by a
medical examination arranged by the College.
Identity Card: Admission of an
applicant will not be complete unless he / she has Identity Card issued by
the College. It should be collected from the office, within fifteen days
from the date of admission.
Every student shall always carry on his
/ her person Identity Card issued by the College while on campus and produce
or surrender it as and when required by member of the teaching staff /
administrative staff / library staff.
