Rev. Dr. Samuel T. Varghese
Chairman - The Gulf Returnees Educational Society

Rev. Dr. Samuel T. Varghese is a well-known spiritual and social leader in India and especially in Kerala.As a     priest of Mar Thomas Church he has served in several Parishes in Kerala. He is a pioneer missionary Pastor and a strong visionary.

As the Founder of Pakalveedu - Day care center for the aged people he was appreciated by the Government,
Organizations and other Institutions. Several organizations are following the method of Pakalveedu in giving           care to the senior citizens in Kerala.

He is founder President of Caring India and SMILE India, two charitable Societies, of both national and       international standing serving our Society specially concentrating in caring senior citizens. He is a person who experiences God’s grace always both in his calling and commitment. A linguist and author of several national and international conferences and conventions.

Rev. Samuel has a Bachelor Degree in Physics from University of Kerala, Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Serampore University, Masters in Theology and Doctor of Divinity from University of South Korea.

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering is a unique institution in many respects. It is the first institute of technology
conceived and being established by a group of Non-Resident Indians. It is the first ecumenical venture in     engineering education, launched by members of various Christian denominations. I am sure that this institution is       the best gift of our Society to the growing generation. Founder of the Gulf Returnees Educational Society and General Secretary and Correspondent of the Society's Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Dr. G. George is a visionary institution builder, successful entrepreneur and devoted social worker. He started his public career in Hindustan Steel Ltd., (presently SAIL) in 1958, moving up to the position of Senior Engineer and Executive with Escorts Ltd. He acquired his Masters Degree in Engineering Management from the Pacific Western University, U.S.A.

After obtaining a medical practitioner's degree in Homoeopathy from Calcutta, he served one of the Homes of the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa, as Hon. Physician. This association made a great impact on him kindling in him values of compassion and altruism.

Dr. George has been in Kuwait for the last 25 years, establishing and managing his own business enterprises and creating an impressive record of achievements. His contribution to Indian Export and Technical manpower Services to the Gulf countries, received a special recognition on the occasion of the Republic Day of India in Kuwait in 1981. He was prominently featured in 1990 in the Magazine of India Achievers Conference, a publication which reports on the achievements of Indians in India and abroad. Dr. George was the first recipient of license from Government of India to import aeroplanes for private air taxi services in India.

GRES is a unique organization of its kind, the first educational society of NRIs committed to building a world class educational complex in India. Dr. George's vision, drive and leadership, supported by a vibrant team, hold great hopes and promises for creating new futures for the new generations.

Prof. R. Bhaskaran who has recently taken over as the Principal of the College is a former Director Academic and Administration of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management - Trivandrum, Kerala (IIITMK) and former Dean Continuing Education and Principal QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Coordinator of IIT Kharagpur. During his long service at IIT Kharagpur of over 23 years (1982 - 2005) as the Professor in Charge of Training and Placement he has served on the Finance Committee and Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur as a Member, looked after the Technology Foundation as Managing Director, besides being Dean and Head of Departments at the Institute during the period and Chairman or Member of a number of academic and administrative committees. He was on deputation from IIT as the Director Academic and Administration of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala (2004 - 2005) and as Director (Technical) of Educational Consultants India Ltd. (1987-88). Prof. Bhaskaran has traveled extensively abroad, to the USA, France and the UAE representing IIT.

Prof. Bhaskaran started his career at PSG College of Technology in 1963 as an Associate Lecturer. He was selected by the Government of India as a Senior Fellow under the Technical Teachers Training Programme and underwent training at College of Engineering, Guindy (1974-67) and also acquired M.Sc.(Engg.). He later worked at Calicut REC as a Lecturer. During this period he also did his Ph.D. at IIT Madras (1969-73) and went on deputation to UPSC, where he was engaged in specialist functions for over 4 years as a Deputy Secretary before he moved over to IIT Kharagpur as a full Professor in 1982. He has a number of publications to his credit and is a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education and Life Member of the Indian Society for Training and Development.
