Mechanical Engineering is the most versatile and fundamental branch of Engineering comprising Production, Thermal and Design streams. Increasing competition, changing economic scenario and complex technological breakthrough has widened the scope of the mechanical branch of engineering. Due to continual changes in technology, manufacturing methodologies, the students learn and use state of the art machines and methodologies to keep pace with the modern world. The present economic liberalization, subsidies to the manufacturing and agro based Industries have given further boost to Mechanical Engineering.
The Mechanical Engineering Department at RGCE possesses the required infrastructure and the right expertise to impart training to students in the latest manufacturing technologies. We offer rigorous training to students with individual attention in laboratories, facilitate classroom discussions. Seminars, Industrial visits and continuous Industry-Institution interactions have resulted in dramatic impact on the quality of students to face the challenges of future.

Department Achievement
- Having MOU with MECHCI CADD Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Chennai to train the students in the CAD/CAM/CAE areas
- Having MOU with KKM Software Pvt. Limited, Chennai to train the students in AutoCAD.
- Conducting National level Technical symposium MECHTRUZZ’09
We started Design and Fabrication Centre to educate the students in design and fabrication areas.
- An “Energy Club” has been started in association with the Departments of EEE and PE to create awareness on Unconventional Energy sources among the students and the public.
